What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word "STYLE" ?

Whenever the word style is used, it's most commonly used to describe someones clothing and or appearance... BUT I'm here to inform you that style is so much more than just a cute hairdo, a trendy jacket, & a "HAUTE" pair of YSL shoes!

STYLE is the overall fusion of the way you walk, the way you talk, the way you move, & yes, even the way you dress, or do anything for that matter! Simplified, style is how we express ourselves from the inside OUT! Style is a reflection of what's inside, including, but certainly not limited to, our thoughts, feelings, emotions, values, even what we like, & do not like. Please note that fashion is only one part of the STYLE EQUATION! 

Always Remember that your style should be effortless, & NEVER forced because it will definitely show! If your inspired by someone or something, don't be a mimic! Feel free to Interpret, but always always always MAKE IT YOUR OWN!!!

When people refer to you & your style, they should never only be referring to your clothes! Let them see YOU & not just the clothes! Clothes should be secondary. It should be you who makes the clothes look good, the clothes shouldn't make you look good!... Now That's Style

As you know Urban Fresh is all about supporting & giving back to our communities in anyway we can!

So come out, join the discussion about Heterosexual (Straight) individuals and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer individuals within Black communities, and the issues that unite and divide us, including what can be done to create a culture of understanding and inclusion in Black communities. Joining the disccusion are Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC), and the Boston NAACP!

Must Have: Color and Prints

Bright cOloR and prints (animal, pattern, or multi cOloR) have always been a part of my wardrobe and if I can have it my way, it would be a part of everyone's closet! My love for cOloR and prints stems not only from my West Indian culture, but I truly believe it's complimentary to ALL skin tones and lets face it, it is an attention grabber ;-) My gals Rihanna, Kelis, Solange and Gwen Stefani are unapologetic when it comes to smearing  away the lines of black and white.

I realize that some of us may not be as daring to walk out in an ensemble of all prints and/or color (no worries!), so my suggestion to those of you is to pick one piece whether it may be a top or bottom, and compliment the "louder" piece with something more subtle such as a pair of black, white or demin bottom/top and/or  pair it with a solid color shoe and purse. Gold, white, and other prints are my personal preference.  Moral of the story is don't confine yourself to only a world of solids, life is so much more fun with cOloR!
